What position are the gaskets in?
Posted 11 months, 2 weeks ago
Specifically, I am thinking of the Permatex Aviation Form-a-gasket sealer. When I worked on a NAPA 7 about 7 years ago, many people building engines swore they used some on most engine gaskets (not the obvious ones like intake, exhaust, head, etc.). Then a few years ago, I was resealing a Ford 300 as a temporary engine in my truck while building my new ones (I'm doing the turbo engine I've shared the progress on a few times), and I used the one gasket shape along with the new gaskets, and the thing didn't leak a drop of oil in the 6 or 7k I put on it for a few years. I've heard that in the past people have had thoughts about gaskets, so I just thought I'd ask this Sunday afternoon.

Gaskets can be in different positions. You'll need the correct sealant https://www.aerospheres.com/products/sealants/ to suit your aircraft gasket.

I have seen the use of sealant on gaskets very beneficial when dealing with older engines or gaskets that may have some wear or https://foodlewordle.io damage. It can help extend the life of the gasket and provide additional sealing properties.
