Preset description:
Edit #1: Settings reshuffled slightly to avoid black crush
A preset that aims to improve the game's lighting, giving it more of a horror vibe while not changing it's color palette too drastically. Nights feel more like nighttime rather than dusk while days are a just a bit more moody.
Includes MXAO (adjusted for distance fog) and Depth of Field, so expect a significant FPS hit (20-30 FPS) which can be reduced by disabling those effects, though MXAO is important. FXAA and SMAA included if you want it.
Disable the game's built-in SSAO, motion blur and depth-of-field for the proper look.
As always ReShade DoF tends to mess up menus, so you may want to disable MartyDOF and re-enable the built-in DoF, or press F3 to disable DoF so you can see menus!
INSTALLATION:
Install ReShade 3.4 (may well work with later versions but that's the current one. Earlier versions will break the preset.)
Open the ReShade.exe, point it to ../PathologicHD/bin/Final/Game.exe and pick Direct3D9 from the radio buttons on ReShade's window.
Say "Yes" to downloading default shaders and [optional] uncheck all options except for AmbientLight.fx, Clarity.fx,
Curves.fx, DOF.fx, FXAA.fx, HighPassSharpen.fx, MXAO.fx, SMAA.fx and Technicolor.fx. This will keep load times minimal. [/optional]
Download this preset and move it to the same folder as the game's exe file. Rename the preset PlagueFX.ini.
In-game you should see a message stating that ReShade is loading. Once it has loaded press Shift + F2 and select PlagueFX.ini from the dropdown menu. The preset can also be adjusted in this manner.
