Gaussian Anamflare
Posted 7 months ago
Hey all, in older versions of ReShade there was a cool shader I liked to use in my sci-fi presets that gave a neat looking horizontal lens flare. It looked like something you might expect to see in an old Jim Cameron movie like Aliens or Terminator 2. Does the latest ReShade have anything like that? I haven't found anything like it so far.

Do you have an example of the effect?

I guess Star Trek(2009) would have been a better example: https://flic.kr/p/2eL4rKb

I ported Reshade and MasterFX together and you will have the benefit from both shader sets LENSDIRT GAUSSIAN_ANAMFLARE LENZFLARE CHAPMAN_LENS GODRAYS ANAMFLARE Now you will be able to use the above Contact me in the link below if you want a link to the files https://www.facebook.com/PhotorealisticFX/?ref=notif&notif_id=1518176414399721&notif_t=page_fan_growth_drop I also added a lot of shaders that don't come with Reshade download set

Can't wait to check out the ported shaders, @QTmodz! @phroZac And you may be talking about the anam flare in the bloom shader. They look like this when configured properly, is this what you mean? (this is the standard Bloom shader with very tweaked settings of course) The second set of pics shows it. https://www.nexusmods.com/anthem/mods/3

That star trek lens flare is amazing! Looks like Battlefield style lens flares which can be crazy and cool.

@AD - Pretty much! Is this BloomAndLensFlares? Maybe they grouped all the various flare effects into one motherload flareshader? I'll try this out. Thanks!

@QTmodz & AssassinsDecree - Thanks for the help guys! However I can't get either to work as I want. I'm having two issues: 1: The radial sunflare in the middle is unnecessary. All I need is the horizontal flare. Is it as easy as finding the corresponding sunflare texture and deleting it? 2. The intensity of the anamflare is too strong, even at minimal settings. It's probably user error on my part. I only enable the anamflare in the shader options. Does it require other options to be enabled in order to lessen the intensity? Thanks in advance for any more advice you may have!

Hey Pvt! Haha, I'm still working on it as you can see. I guess I can always go back to a pre-ReShade3 version, but then I lose the GUI which I'm not willing to give up.

Figured it out! Holy crap that took a ton of experimentation.

Sorry I'm responding to this so late. The problem with the bEnableAnamFlare is somehow caused by insane default values in a lower section. These are my settings that give a neatural white flare color and allow the actual color settings under bEnableAnamFlare to make a difference. Otherwise I just got bright blue flares that would never go away no matter what settings I changed. Thanks for the help, AD! I wish we had more control over what flares though. Any bright highlight will give off a flare in some games, when I only want sources of light to flare. Urrrg. Though I'm not sure if that's even possible with post proc injection.

@phroZac There is a small way to really lessing this. Get a neutral lut open it in camera raw, go to the color settings Lower the luminosity of the main colors then use select color filter and make the whites a little gray

Thanks, QT. I've been doing this through Lightroom for some time now. Its a bit better, but since it's post, controlling values in a general way can only go so far.
