Testing SweetFX without a Game
Posted 9 years, 12 months ago
Hello i enjoy testing different effects for sweetfx configurations, but i dislike restarting a game every time to test it. By the least id like to take a picture of a game and just apply the settings of sweet fx to it there and then. Or some sort of demo. Basically i'm asking is there a way to test out sweet fx without needing to boot up a game. If anyone knows any ways that would be nice, thanks.

All you would need is a DirectX application that displays an image. ninjafada has one here: ninjafada.com/sweetfx/DX9IVv1.4.7z Replace the contents of the .BMP with whatever image you like (personally I would go with a screenshot of a game, with no AA, and add in a chromatic and luma scale on the side), and install SweetFX in the same folder. Alt-F4 to quit de image viewer.

Put the game in window mode then Alt and Tab. Go to the game folder and Change what ever settings and save the preset then Alt and Tab back to game and press what ever key the Preset reload is set to. This will reload your changes. Just look at bottom of Preset to find what the reload Key is Hope it helps :)

When I try to use my own images with that DX9IV program, it only shows a blank screen?

Download GEMFX and you can change the settings while you're playing and see them. GEMFX basically adds more features + SweetFX in one go, so might as well get with the cool kids and drop SweetFX for it's newer and better cousin.

hello to use DX9IV you have to drag and drop the jpg or png on the DX9IV.exe i didn't make any other way to open a file sorry and it's fullscreen windowed mode and you can't open bigger image than you screen resolution so you open the config file, drag n drop the image on the exe, edit and save the config and you should see in the back the image changing DX9IV.exe is a 32bits dx9 so you will need to rename reshade32.dll into d3d9.dll

I've been using Reshade w/ SweetFX 2.0 and never had any issues.
