Rift Perfected (WIP)

Preset for RIFT
Created by Dracconus
Added March 31, 2014
Shader used: SweetFX 1.5
Preset description:
The goal of this preset is to "perfect" (obviously a biased opinion) the look of rift. What do I mean by "perfect the look?" Simple: Colors are more saturated and "realistic." The "Gray filter" that's overlayed when not using in game FX (bloom, and HDR) is removed. Shadows are darker, and more defined. Bloom is tighter to the source of light with minimal screen space reflection (random ghosting) Particle Effects are now more visible, noticable, and brighter and seem more "realistic. Land Textures are now more defined, and seem to pop more instead of seeming so "flat." Text will have a border (unfortunatley this means a border around other things, but hey, that's the cost of being able to read screen text. There will be more revisions, and also some custom shaders linked ot this eventually, as well as textures utilizing Umod as well as an instructional. Eventually this will be a ful lfledged texture/visual overhaul of the game with minimal infraction on your playability at your current settings. ================================ GRAPHICS SETTINGS I USE My In-Game Settings are as follows: Terrain Distance: 6 Object Distance: 180 Object Detail: 100 Anisotropic Filtering: 16 Texture Quality: 3 Pixel Granularity: 100 Trilinear Filtering: OFF Fullscreen FX: OFF Projected Textures: OFF Enable Detail Objects: OFF Ambient Occlusion: OFF Ground Clutter Density: 7 Ground Clutter Radius: 40 Shader Complexity: 10 Lighting Complexity: 10 Particle Quantity: 250 Spell Detail: 3 Cloaks: NONE Antialiasing: NONE Shadows: NONE ================================ Relevant System Specifications CPU: AMD Phenom II x6 1100T @4.2Ghz on all 6 Cores RAM: 12GB 2x4GB 2x2 GB 1333Mhz DDR3 Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 Ver. 3.0 GPU: Sapphire Dual-X 7950 W/Boost @950Mhz Core Monitors: 3x 23" 1080P Acer's Game HDD: 7200RPM Western Digital Blue SATAII ================================ Average Frames Per Second Varies, really...this game's so horribly coded there's not even a way to TRY to benchmark it.

/*-----------------------------------------------------------. / Description / '------------------------------------------------------------/ Game: Any SweetFX version: 1.5 Author: Dracconus Description: This is a work in progress to perfect the look of rift with minimal to no performance hit. While there may be a few options that could be enabled/edited to make it look "that much" better if they end up not being worth the cost they will NOT be included into the project. It will also utilize custom shaders later in time that I will link to this when they're added/tweaked. /*-----------------------------------------------------------. / Choose effects / '-----------------------------------------------------------*/ // Set to 1 for ON or 0 for OFF #define USE_SMAA_ANTIALIASING 0 // [0 or 1] SMAA Anti-aliasing : Smoothens jagged lines using the SMAA technique. #define USE_FXAA_ANTIALIASING 0 // [0 or 1] FXAA Anti-aliasing : Smoothens jagged lines using the FXAA technique. WIP - Currently only works in DX9 and you need to use the FXAA injector dlls. #define USE_CARTOON 0 // [0 or 1] Cartoon : "Toon"s the image. (Interferes with SMAA, CRT, Bloom, HDR and Lumasharpen) #define USE_TVLEVELS 0 // [0 or 1] TVLevels : Adjusts the brightness/darkness of the scene with a straight line instead of a curve. #define USE_ADVANCED_CRT 0 // [0 or 1] Advanced CRT : Simulates an old CRT TV display. (Interferes with SMAA, Cartoon, Bloom, HDR and Lumasharpen, and it has a very high performance cost) #define USE_BLOOM 1 // [0 or 1] Bloom : Makes bright lights bleed their light into their surroundings (relatively high performance cost) #define USE_HDR 1 // [0 or 1] HDR : Not actual HDR - It just tries to mimic an HDR look (relatively high performance cost) #define USE_LUMASHARPEN 1 // [0 or 1] LumaSharpen : Also sharpens the antialiased edges which makes them less smooth - I'm working on fixing that. #define USE_TECHNICOLOR 0 // [0 or 1] TECHNICOLOR : Attempts to mimic the look of an old movie using the Technicolor three-strip color process (Techicolor Process 4) #define USE_DPX 0 // [0 or 1] Cineon DPX : Should make the image look like it's been converted to DXP Cineon - basically it's another movie-like look similar to technicolor. #define USE_MONOCHROME 0 // [0 or 1] Monochrome : Monochrome makes the colors disappear. #define USE_LIFTGAMMAGAIN 1 // [0 or 1] Lift Gamma Gain : Adjust brightness and color of shadows, midtones and highlights (avoids clipping) #define USE_TONEMAP 1 // [0 or 1] Tonemap : Adjust gamma, exposure, saturation, bleach and defog. (may cause clipping) #define USE_VIBRANCE 0 // [0 or 1] Vibrance : Intelligently saturates (or desaturates if you use negative values) the pixels depending on their original saturation. #define USE_CURVES 1 // [0 or 1] Curves : Contrast adjustments using S-curves. #define USE_SEPIA 0 // [0 or 1] Sepia : Sepia tones the image. #define USE_VIGNETTE 0 // [0 or 1] Vignette : Darkens the edges of the image to make it look more like it was shot with a camera lens. May cause banding artifacts. #define USE_DITHER 1 // [0 or 1] Dither : Applies dithering to simulate more colors than your monitor can display. This lessens banding artifacts (mostly caused by Vignette) #define USE_BORDER 1 // [0 or 1] Border : Makes the screenedge black as a workaround for the bright edge that forcing some AA modes sometimes causes. #define USE_SPLITSCREEN 0 // [0 or 1] Splitscreen : Enables the before-and-after splitscreen comparison mode. /*-----------------------------------------------------------. / SMAA Anti-aliasing settings / '-----------------------------------------------------------*/ #define SMAA_THRESHOLD 2.0 // [0.05 to 0.20] Edge detection threshold. I personally use SweetFX COnfigurator to load/unload/edit presets. Saving on the fly, and ability to dynamically reload the .ini's, and shaders loaded without constantly restarting the game makes it a ton easier in my opinion.

I'm not actually sure what I did to fix it, but it's working now.

This looks great, but unfortunately it isn't working for me. I've installed everything to the same directory as Rift.exe and SweetFX has worked for me in other games. Are there special steps for Rift?
