Rise Of The Tomb Raider Defined

Shader used: ReShade
Preset description:
This is my preset for Rise Of The Tomb Raider game. I have since updated this preset and I have thus added a Version 2 Download link below. This updated version has has a few additional tweaks made to the SMAA and LEVELS values and is slightly improved. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Preset Effects) (LEVELS) I used this to make the shadows slightly more defined and "blacker" without making the game too dark or obscuring any details in darkness. (VIBRANCE) A pretty self explanatory one but this is used to boost the Saturation of colours and add vibrancy to the existing colour pallete in the game. (CURVES) Added some additional contrast tweaks to both Luma and Chroma values and this helps overall with some of the other effects used. (LUMASHARPEN) This is the crucial effect in making the game crisp and slightly adding more detail overall to textures and objects. It nicely enhances the game and helps bring out textures just that bit more, I like to use but obviously can be disabled to increase performance or on personal preference. (SMAA) This is used to reduce the jagged edges in the game and provide a low cost Anti Aliasing option for those who choose to use no in game AA options or who want to supplement existing AA in game. I have tweaked this to catch edges as best I could, it might miss smaller edges but it does a good job of most larger edges in the game. (Preset Performance Impact) From my testing it appears as though this preset has about a 5-7fps cost, this is due mostly to the SMAA settings, Sharpening only costs 1-2fps and is negligible overall. I have tested the game with the in game SMAA and FXAA options and neither provide as good edge detection as the Reshade implementation of SMAA does, also both in game options cost more fps overall. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Download Presets Here: Version 1: http://www.mediafire.com/download/pv223d5r7g1fzn9/ROTTR_Defined_by_Bopper.rar Version 2 (Optional): http://www.mediafire.com/download/mbu2g51pk2blrgj/ROTTR_by_Bopper%28Version_2%29.rar (Version 2 Edits): Tweaked with the SMAA for more accurate detection of edges, dropped the SMAA_THRESHOLD value down to 0.08 and set SMAA_CORNER_ROUNDING to 100. This results in better anti aliasing overall and nicely removes jagged edges when using no in game AA. Dropped the overall LEVELS value a touch just to brighten the game slightly, as after more playing it was a touch too dark in places. -------------------------------------- Installation Guide: 1: Download Preset from link above 2: Extract the preset and copy the "ROTTR Defined by Bopper" folder. 3: Navigate to your main Reshade Framework install location and paste the Folder inside Reshade Framework 1.1.0/Reshade/PersonalFiles/Presets/ 4. Open Mediator tool choose "Add" and browse to the ROTTR.exe and select DX10/11 option for the API and hit Update. 5. Now click the Presets drop down box and "ROTTR Defined by Bopper" should now be an option as a Preset, choose Update and then Hit Apply to save changes. If you want to change the name then just navigate to the Preset path above and Rename the Folder then re open Mediator and it should be renamed :) Play the game :) -------------------------------------- (RESHADE TUTORIALS) Some of my Reshade Tutorials in a playlist from my YouTube channel, I cover how to setup Reshade Mediator and also MasterEffect and SweetFX and also how to upload and create your own Mediator presets for use on the database. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLomny9sN8EZmYVMQrEygRMrpZUs4RSZAW ------------------------------------- Made with Reshade Framework V1.1.0 Bopper -

Reshade doesnt support DX12, so I doubt there will be any way to use it. Crosire the creator of Reshade has said there is more chance of seeing Vulcan support than DX12, so dont get your hopes up.

What version do you suggest for maximum quality. 1, 2 or the more recent preset?

I noticed. I played though with your v1 preset just fine, though.

i7-6700K, 16GB, EVGA GTX 980 4GB. (1080p)

It was a bit dark on my monitor, I just bumped up the brightness slider in-game.

The difference is quite remarkable. Default seems blurry and bland now.

Glad to hear it dude, I made another Preset for this game, its features some similar graphical boosts but with a really minimal fps hit, check it out if your curious :)

Turn off the Curves option or reduce the black point till you get the effect you like, or else calibrate your monitor properly.

You really shouldnt need much AA at 4K resolution. I would test it out and see if you like the look of the game with my preset. I have tested the in game SMAA and compared it to my version of SMAA and mine looks better and costs less performance.

Michael2907
4 Feb 09:40 CET

that means i can disable the option in game and it still looks like its on?

I play with a 980ti in 4k and every fps is a pleasure.

bopper2010
4 Feb 09:33 CET

The SMAA I used in the preset is better than the SMAA that comes in the game and has less fps hit. You can use the in game AA if you want but it will just cost more fps and hardly improves it unless you use the SSAAx2 or X4 which costs 20fps.

hi,
thx for it.

A question of course to the smaa in reshade is there a different when i turn no mxaa or smaa in game for the quality?
