Preset description:
This preset “pernicious umbra” for the SOURCENEXT version of Biohazard 2 (Resident Evil 2) transmutes this horror classic to possibly an even more memorable experience. Shadow and light sources are corrected, the ambiance is more haunting; tight spaces, corridors that realistically have little light sources now reflect this; even if one has played this game numerous times, this preset might create a new undertaking for the player. With dgVoodoo one can force full-screen which results in a more correct visual on widescreen TV’s instead of a square with black sides. That is a welcomed change, the thing I would not force with dgVoodoo is a higher resolution than the default game provides. With dgVoodoo there is an option to do this but results in the game’s textures (Mainly static images of real world objects) becoming very skewed. These images were made in mind of the game’s resolution, the only realistic way a higher resolution could truly be achieved if the games static images were optimized with a higher resolution in mind. Remember that when playing; do not complain if one plays at a higher resolution and the preset does not look like it does here. As stated previously higher resolutions pretty much leaves this preset void. In closing, I would have put this preset with the other Resident Evil games on here but someone has the name “Resident Evil 2” taken for the upcoming remake, to avoid confusion I just went with Biohazard 2, not that big of a deal. One more thing, people who speed-run this game, I remember some years ago some runners complained of lag when going into item screen, dgVoodoo fixes this. -peace out
