Preset description:
“Jill’s Cafard” for Biohazard 3: Last Escape, SOURCENEXT version (Resident Evil 3: Nemesis), increases realism by bringing out more volume in environmental objects; lights sources and shadows have also been corrected. There is more of a cinematic flair to the game now than previously. The blood in the game now has an accurate color, no longer is it “bright paint” red. Possibly playing with this preset will make the game feel newer, dark places feel truly daunting than before. The game’s time/place is at night, this preset tries to represent that in a precise manner, no more totally lit areas in places with little or no light sources. Like Biohazard 2 one should force full screen with dgVoodoo on widescreen TV’s for an accurate picture (rectangle instead of a square). One should not force resolution with dgVoodoo, the games static images were made for the resolution of the game at that time, not 2K/4K resolutions found in the present; playing at higher resolutions will leave this preset invalid. I could have put this under Resident Evil 3 with other Resident Evil games, but since I did Biohazard 2, figured I do the same with the third installment, it is all semantics at any rate, one name or the other, fans of the series know the game. I wanted to do a preset too for the original 1996 Resident Evil/Biohazard but I could only get it to run once, after that it just hangs. The dgVoodoo emblem is at the right hand corner so its compatible but it crashes soon after that. If anyone knows a workaround I would be so grateful. That is still my favorite of the series, arguably the greatest intro sequence in videogame history, really campy B Horror movie charm with it all, and accompanied by the extremely peculiar yet somehow simultaneously awesome dialogue. “You, the Master of Unlocking.” So good, ha. Capcom should seriously think of re-releasing their first 3 games of this horror series on newer platforms gog, steam, and present generation of consoles, like Sega just did with the Shenmue series. There is still an audience for the originals, old and new, do not get me wrong remakes are great, but there would not be remakes without the originals. Capcom should give them their due and respect, by optimizing them for newer operating systems, consoles etc. I digress. -peace out
