SweetFX 1.5.1
Posted 3 years, 3 months ago
The orignal post from CeeJay is here -> http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=381912 Current version is 1.5.1 Download: • On Guru3D's mirrors ( http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/sweetfx_shader_suite_download.html ) • On ge.tt ( http://ge.tt/api/1/files/64SMJpf/6/blob?download ) • On dropcanvas ( http://dropcanvas.com/l46x9/28 ) • On Skyrim nexus ( http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23364/? ) You can also find older versions here. On Dropcanvas ( http://dropcanvas.com/l46x9/ ) you can also find versions of my shaders that will work with Media Player Classic so you can use them to improve movie watching as well. I'll be posting new releases here and you can discuss SweetFX and share settings here too (use the code tag and optionally the spoiler tag when posting settings). We are also very happy to see your screenshots but try not to post full size screenshots as they break the forum format. Post images no wider than 1024 pixels that link to the full size screenshots instead. If you post a lot you may also consider using the spoiler tag. News and links Injector news: Crosire is hard at work on new injectors for DX 9,10,11 and OpenGL. I'm hard at work porting SweetFX over to the new eFX injector by Crosire, and improving it to use the new features that eFX allows me to use. Boulotaur is absent - busy with real life stuff, so development on his injector seems to have stopped. GUI tool: SweetFX Configurator by Terrasque makes it easier to install and configure SweetFX. -> http://sweetfx.thelazy.net/ UPDATE : Since Terrasque haven't updated the configurator in a while, I updated his version 1.3.3 with the files from SweetFX 1.5.1 Download SweetFX Configurator with SweetFX 1.5.1 included here -> http://ge.tt/api/1/files/64SMJpf/7/blob?download Videoguides (by TheAdipose): • Part One - what is sweetfx? -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v21m_p7d2A4 • Part two - your first tweaks -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxFOx-9wZPM And over in the overclock.net forums ( http://www.overclock.net/t/1296721/how-to-anti-aliasing-injection-fxaa-smaa-and-sweetfx ), the moderator TFL_Replica have also posted tons of screenshots and it's also a good place for support if no one here was able to help you. Also youtuber Quicksh0tHD did a interview with me. hose of you with an AMD card will be happy to learn that the latest RadeonPro beta now supports SweetFX and can run all the effects without relying on the InjectSMAA injector. This makes it easy to use with RadeonPros many other cool features, but most importantly this also works with 64bit executables, which the InjectSMAA injector that SweetFX currently ships with does not. It is however an AMD only tool otherwise I would probably have chosen to it as the default injector I develop SweetFX for. What is it? So in case you're new to SweetFX Shader Suite (or just SweetFX), it's a mod built on the InjectSMAA shader injector, that allows you to apply a suite of post processing shader effects to your games. You may have tried another shader injection mod before, like InjectFXAA, InjectSMAA or FXAAtool. SweetFX improves upon all of these. You can add SMAA anti-aliasing , sharpening and tweak the color, gamma , exposure and more. It's meant to allow you to improve the look of your games and change the look and mood of it to your liking. If you use SMAA antialiasing instead of MSAA or an even more expensive antialaliasing technique you can also make the game run faster (than with MSAA) Effects included: • SMAA Anti-aliasing : Anti-aliases the image using the SMAA technique - see http://www.iryoku.com/smaa/ • FXAA Anti-aliasing : Anti-aliases the image using the FXAA technique - currently only work under DirectX9. Use the d3d9.dll found in \SweetFX\dlls\FXAA DX9 dll\ for this. • Explosion : Scatters the pixels similarly to the Explosion filter in Irfanview • Cartoon : Creates an outline-effect that makes the image look more cartoonish. • Advanced CRT : Mimics the look of an old arcade CRT display. • LumaSharpen : Sharpens the image, making details easier to see • Bloom : Makes strong lights bleed their light into their surroundings • HDR : Mimics an HDR tonemapped look • Levels : Sets a new black and white point. A fast and easy way to increase contrast but it causes clipping. The Curves effect does this in a more subtle way without causing clipping. • Technicolor : Makes the image look like it was processed using a three-strip Technicolor process - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technicolor • Cineon DPX : Makes the image look like it was converted from film to Cineon DPX. Can be used to create a "sunny" look. • Monochrome : Removes colors from the image so it appears as if shot on black and white film. • Lift Gamma Gain : Adjust brightness and color of shadows, midtones and highlights (and typically does it better then the Tonemap effect) • Tonemap : Adjust gamma, exposure, saturation, bleach and defog. (may cause clipping) • Vibrance : Intelligently saturates (or desaturates if you use negative values) the pixels depending on their original saturation. • Curves : Contrast adjustments using S-curves - without causing clipping. • Sepia : Sepia tones the image - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sepia_tone#Sepia_toning • Vignette : Darkens the edges of the image to make it look more like it was shot with a camera lens. - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vignetting ) • Dither : Applies dithering to simulate more colors than your monitor can display. This lessens banding artifacts - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ditheri...age_processing ) • Border : Makes the screenedge black as a workaround for the bright edge that forcing some AA modes sometimes causes. • Splitscreen : Enables the before-and-after splitscreen comparison mode. • Custom : A template to allow other to more easily program their own shader. Just edit /SweetFX/Shaders/custom.h (some programming knowledge required) Compatibility SweetFX works with almost any 32bit (and hopefully soon 64bit) DirectX 9, 10 or 11 game or application. It runs on all Windows versions from Windows 2000 and up. Both 32bit and 64bit. It works perfectly with all cards that can run DirectX9 games and support shader model 3. (that's all cards since the Ati Radeon X1xxx and Nvidia Geforce 6xxx series) Some of the effects will even work on cards so old that they can only run shader model 2. (Ati Radeon 9xxx to X8xx series and the GeForce FX 5xxx series) - there is a compability setting that enables support for these really old cards in /SweetFX/SweetFX_compatibility_settings.txt 64bit support should be coming in the near future as Boulotaur2024 has been working on a new injector that works with 64bit. His current WIP version should work with most 64bit executables and once it's matured a little more it will most likely become the new default injector for SweetFX ( http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=4581604&postcount=528 ) It may work on Linux using Wine - please report your findings. It does not work well with most programs that overlay an image onto the game. It has a workaround for the Steam overlay so that will work, and you can make overlays based on Rivatuner OSD work as well with a compability setting in those overlays , but other overlays may prevent SweetFX from making changes to the image or outright crash the game - turn those off.

FAQ Q: Can I use this with a OpenGL games? A: SweetFX does not currently support OpenGL but hopefully in the future it will. For now trying using the opengl wrapper mentioned in the readme. Work is being done on a new injector with OpenGL support but it's not ready yet. Q: Does this work with 64bit games? A: Yes, Boulotaur's Injector works with 64bit exe's and so does RadeonPro. Q: Does this work with 64bit Windows? A: Yes. All version of SweetFX (not just boulotaurs) work with 64bit Windows. Q: When I launch the game it crashes/doesn't start/SweetFX isn't enabled? A: Try disabling AA in-game(some games wont work with AA and SweetFX together,) if that doesn't work check the log file to see if maybe it will give you an ideal location and if not try Boulotaur's injector; if that fails post the log file information in the thread and we'll see if we can figure it out. Q: I keep getting an error when using DX11 on Win 8.1 RTM? A: The dxgi.dll needs to be updated to support some DXGI changes that Win8.1 introduced. Future versions of the injector should have Win8.1 support. You can still use DX9 games with SweetFX under Win8.1, and some DX10/11 games still work on Win8.1. RadeonPro also works. Q: Why wont Amnesia: The Dark Descent work with SweetFX? A: Amnesia is an OpenGL game which SweetFX does not support at this time. Q: Can you add support for Depth of Field or SSAO? A: Those effects require that the injector have support for a depth texture, which the InjectSMAA injector does not. Hopefully in the future, but it's not in the cards right now.

Here's hoping people read the FAQ here. xD

That would be nice. My hopes are kinda low, tho

Thank you for all your hard work!

Hi @ all! I`m trying to get Boulotaur's Injector to work with the configurator or at least these additional shader they come with..., but with no success :( Is it possible and what i have to do?
Posted 3 years ago
I don't know if boulotaur's injector works with the configurator tool. It probably only works with ceejay's official injector.
Posted 3 years ago
Thx K-putt, but what about the shaders e.g. CA, or Filmgrain, how do I get them to work?
Posted 3 years ago
I don't know. You can always tweak the settings file without the tool. That's how i do it at least. I never used that tool.
Posted 3 years ago
i need some preset for Richard Burns Rally (RSRBR2014) pleasse
Posted 3 years ago
If anyone has any luck getting the new version (with CA/Grain etc) working with SweetFX Configurator, I'd be grateful for the info. I managed to get Gaussian & Film Grain items to show up in the check list, but the edit parameters for Film Grain wouldn't show. also Boulatour's version says it is 1.4, whereas SweetFX is now at 1.5.1, and there are some slight difference I think. (eg one has Cartoon Slope and the other doesn't). I guess some of the settings files from one version will be out of date with the shader code from the other What do you think is the best working combination of Configuator+SweetFX version at the moment? thanks J
Posted 3 years ago
The official SweetFX release is probably the best version for the configurator. Boulatour's injector is still 1.4. I just added/updated it with CeeJay's 1.5.1 shader. I think CeeJay only updated is shaders with 1.5.1 anyway.

The "SweetFX Configurator with SweetFX 1.5.1 included" link is broken FYI.

In Resident Evil? Looks like you're using the wrong injector for my preset. Also, you don't need the configurator if you're not changing anything. Download this injector version - http://ge.tt/4CpDyZt/v/0 Copy all those files into the same folder as the .exe file. Swap the SweetFX_settings.txt with my preset and you're done. You probably have to rename the preset i made to SweetFX_settings.txt because thelazy.com renames them automaticly. RE4 is also a 32bit game. So you don't need the x64 .dll And i see that you're on Win8.1. That means you're out of luck with sweetFX anyway. It doesn't support win8.1 yet. Altough.. DX9 games should still work with SweetFX on Win8.1

I have a Problem with another Game, which isnt listed actual - OMSI 2 (Omnibussimulator 2) If i disable Overlay from Steam, everything works fine, but if i enable it, Game starts, then i load a new map - first everything is fine, but the i open the Busses List and get a gameoverlayrenderer.dll error Message. I use Boulotaur2024 Injector 20130601 and there is no "Steam Overlay Hack" which i can define. I just use his injector because there is the Gaussian - Bloom Shader. Can anyone help me? Cheers

SweetFX not working Tell me a solution I did everything I needed to install but does not work sweetfx sniper elite 3
Posted 2 years, 7 months ago
hi, i'm was just curious about sweetFX ...i installed it, added skyrim to it and played around. my problem now is, the game is totally "overtuned", means, what was black before is now white and it looks at all like painted with a pencil on a white sheet. so i downloaded different setting, imported them and saved them. no changes! still white. then i deletet the game on sweetFX, means the SweetFX surface was blank and tried to start the game the normal way without SweetFX... the problem still exists. when i delete the sweetFX file in my game folder, the game crashes at start. can someone tell me what to do? would be nice and sorry for my english.
Posted 2 years, 7 months ago
@66Deuce sounds like it's not installed properly or something, i've never had that problem before ever. I recommend making sure all the SweetFX files are properly located where the .exe is, in this case TESV.EXE if its skyrim (at least i think thats the .exe, haven't played skyrim in months). There's really not much to installing it in Skyrim, just drag and Drop or copy and paste all the SweetFX files from Ceejay's 1.5.1 sweetfx. Then just replace SweetFX_settings.txt with one downloaded from here and rename the one downloaded from here "SweetFX_settings" and replace the other. If double checking to make sure all the SweetFX files are properly located in the Directory doesn't fix it make sure that your actually using a sweetfx 1.5.1 preset as I have no clue if a 1.3 preset will work with 1.5.1 without causing those problems you mentioned. And if you have no sweetfx installed at all and it's still crashing verify the integrity of the game cache (if steam) as that should fix any broken game files. Hope this helps.

@ PC_Constantine ... thanks a lot for the quick response, but it was my fault! i unmarked everything on sweet fx and forgot to save it, before i started the game. sometimes i just dont see the simple things, when im to deep into something, sorry.
Posted 2 years, 7 months ago
@66Deuce cool glad it's working.
Posted 2 years, 6 months ago
any fix for windows 8.1 support please ? @pc_constantine ? @k-putt it's not working for all games when I use SweetFX+EFX that's what I get with some games example: http://i.imgur.com/YErZKHx.png with assassin's Creed 2 & Brotherhood % Castlevania Los 2 no effect for some games any way to fix this ? EDIT: Fixed DX9 games can't get it running with DX10-DX11 Games
Posted 2 years, 6 months ago
Fun fact, you shouldn't of "upgraded" as we don't have proper support for DX10/11 yet. Sadly the only way you could get it working is by using RadeonPro, eFX is unreliable.
Posted 2 years, 6 months ago
can someone tell me how to use RadeonPro I never got it working don't know why :'D so if you know a proper way please tell :D

Hello, Thanks for the hours of work that give us some much pleasure. For Wildstar; sinds 01/08/14 patch (sabotage) sweetfx won't work anymore (-dx9 start game in dx9 mode but still no positive results) From which side should we wait a fix ? From Wildstar or Cee-Jay ? ^^

New To all this..where do i copy the presets to..Probably a silly question i know :(..want to use it for Guildwars 2 Thanks Wizhunter
Posted 2 years, 5 months ago
Hello, and welcome, Wizhunter :) To get SweetFX running, you need to copy the SweetFX files to the folder the game is in, and then either change "SweetFX_preset.txt" to the name of the preset text file, or replace the settings in "SweetFX_settings.txt".

Here's the info u need to know: - I'm runnin windows 7 64 bit - using sweetfx 1.5.1 (with the boulotaur 2024 files) which I downloaded off of K-Putt's unity preset - using kputt's preset for unity - at first I dragged the files into the game dir. I noticed it contains a folder named "x64 dlls" (or something like that). So I kept the folder structure intact (when I do this, the game starts but there is absolutly no sweetfx running (not even a log.log file after closing game) - I get more interesting results when I drag the 2x .dlls files from the "x64 dlls" folder to the game dir (these 2x dlls are dxgi and d3d9.dll or something like that) when I do that last, I get log.log file with no errors shown but still no effect in the game. Kputt says in the preset page comments that he configured his preset to use the ins/home/pgup buttons to be the toggle buttons for the sweetfx effects... even when using them, still nothing working... I suspect it could be my other programs. but then again I took all the necessary steps. I'm using MSI AB alongside RivaTuner stat server with the d3d compatibility feature to avoid conflict between sweetfx and my osd... What am I missing?
Posted 1 year, 12 months ago
INFO on HOW to get 1.5.1 to work with x64 games and RIVATUNER OSD: after lots of hassle I finally got sweetfx 1.5.1 to work with my x64 games and my OSD. here's how: a) copy the files from the sweetfx 1.5.1 package to your game dir. There will be a x64 folder in there containing .dll files which NEED to be copied into your game dir directly. Most people will probably assume (like I did) that we're supposed to copy the sweetfx package itself (preserving the folder structure) directly into game dir... which is INCORRECT. (unless you're copying the package to a 32 bit game) b) IF you are using Rivatuner Stats server OSD like I am: Add the game .exe file and DO NOT TURN ON the DIRECT 3d compatibility mode (which is normally Recommended for most x64 games) because for some reason, some x64 games just won't boot if that setting is on. Do not worry, even if you leave it off you will still have your FPS monitor and temps and whatnot (tested this on farcry 4 and assassin'S creed unity game) c)get the sweetfx preset profile you want from sweetfx's website for the specific game you want. Make sure to read the poster's instructions... sometimes they use specific shaders to "tweaks" which might involve some more fiddling around
