[Reshade 3.0.4] When The Lights Go Out

Preset description:
*UPDATED v2 - 2/15/2017* Changelog: - updated to v2 which includes; - removed Film Grain and Fine Sharp, readjusted sharpening - removed DOF and MXAO, performance vs effect value When The Lights Go Out When The Lights Go Out, the monsters come to play! A High-End Preset focused on darker shadows, brighter lights, and a cleaner look! This preset was made for myself, I liked it and wanted to share with the community! Suggestions, feedback, and improvements are very much welcome! *INSTRUCTIONS* Step 1: Download and install Reshade 3.0.4.(Currently this is the only working version for myself) Direct3D 10+ is recommended. Step 2: Download this preset. Step 3: Change the name and extension of the file to → [Reshade 3.0.4] When The Lights Go Out.ini Step 4: Cut and Paste file inside of your game directory. Step 5: Turn off graphics settings: Motion Blur, Chromatic Aberration Set AntiAliasing → TAA (*Low Specs → FXAA) Set Ambient Occlusion → HBAO+ (*Low Specs → SSAO, or SSAO(Variable) Set Bloom ON Set LensFlare ON Set Res Scaling 1.5 (2.0=Strong Systems) (*Low Specs → 1) Step 6: Once in game, press Shift+F2 to open the Reshade Overlay, choose the preset from the dropdown box. (In-game you have to bring up inventory [TAB] first before you can use overlay)
What can you expect from this preset? Darker Shadows - No more bright soft shadows! Used Levels, Curves, and LiftGammaGain to deepen the contrast and slightly darken the shadows. I aimed for subtle darkening, nothing too extreme or intense. Cleaner and Improved Textures - Clearer Textures! By using all three Anti-Aliasing techniques(SMAA & FXAA + TAA) I was able to soften and fix the textures, with a mixture of GaussianBlur to further smooth out the jaggies. Sharper image quality! Never was much a fan of LumaSharpen, so instead I used a subtle combination of AdaptiveSharpen, Clarity, and HighPassSharp to sharpen the entire image afterwards, without it being ridiculous! Brighter Lights and Deeper Color - Some color couldn't hurt! Used Colourfulness, Tonemap, and Vibrance to bring out the natural color of the game, without oversaturating. I didn't feel safe in the light, so I added Ambient Light and Bloom to make them brighter, with Flare and Lens Dirt to give the camera a slightly grittier atmosphere. This is still a work in progress! Please note that this preset was made using a resolution of 2560x1440, the look of this preset will be different at lower resolutions. Also depending on your monitor this preset could differ from the posted pictures.

@ermikiss2 The shaders are exactly the same for both versions, so I don't see why it wouldn't! :-) It's just on my system for some reason, 3.0.6 isn't cooperating. I happened to luckily come across version 3.0.4 in my forum search(hint)!

Fps went from 31 to 43. If I have more time I might go through each setting part by part to see if any one in particular has a big hit. But from just messing with it for a couple of minutes, it looks like a cumulative effect, with most individual settings each taking a few frames.

I'll give your tweaks a try. The main thing I'm looking for here on reshade is the right mix of slight color correction, sharpening to offset TAA, and darker, *blacker* shadows.

Scaling is the first thing I disabled when I tried your preset (I had it at 1.4), but the fps hit was still no bueno.

As for TAA vs SMAA, on this card SMAA generally has a bigger fps hit than TAA.

@Serotonin lol, I was afraid of that being an issue. I am working on removing some of the effects that may seem redundant. Remove these two effects if you want to save some frames - LightDoF_Near,LightDoF_Far, and MXAO. The MXAO & HBAO+ is overkill on the system for sure, so you can also change the HBAO+ to SSAO. Also to further help with the FPS hit, lower the Anti-aliasing to SMAA instead of using TAA, you won't even notice the difference. Biggest culprit of eating frames is the resolution scaling, anything under 1 looks like crap, so I wouldn't recommend going any lower, but 2 will liu kang your system.

That's an 8 gig RX480, btw (Sapphire subvendor).

I suspect your tippy-top end system may be the only kind of system that can comfortable run your preset.

Nice work, but the performance hit on my OC'ed RX480 is much, MUCH greater than on your 1080 monster.

I legit go from 70-90 fps to 30 fps.
