Shader used: ReShade
Preset description:
Summary LEGO City Undercover is a must play title, but could use much needed love in the visual department. This Reshade, along with Special K's mod, and additional NVIDIA settings aims to make the environments less muddy and more vibrant. This preset was tested at 4K. Prerequisites -Special K LEGO City Recovered -VSync Turned Off -(Optional) NVIDIA Control Panel settings: https://imgur.com/Ez0fQih and https://imgur.com/QYBkAoQ This ReShade was tested and designed with Kaldaien's Special K "Lego City Recovered", which will remove the horrible native 60fps frame lock and will re-enable Exclusive Fullscreen mode. https://gitlab.com/Kaldaien/SpecialK/-/tags/lcr_limiter While I would normally just recommend this mod, Special K Lego City Recovered is required when using this Reshade. Using this mod will also require a custom path and instructions for Reshade which are detailed below! With the mod installed I went from 60 to 140fps. This will ensure that you have the best experience possible, and may also compensate for the performance impact of Reshade and ensure optimal gameplay. Important Note Please note that I select shaders and their settings based on each individual game I create a Reshade for. This takes time, and I hope my efforts show. It seems common for many creators to reuse the same Reshade across games regardless of art style, mood or setting. Please feel free to take a moment to checkout my other Reshades if you have a moment! https://sfx.thelazy.net/users/u/iChillum/ Required Shaders Note that the instructions provide guidance on downloading these shaders. Downloading only the necessary shaders will help guarantee additional game performance. -AmbientLight -ChromaticAbberation -Clarity -FXAA -LumaSharpen -Vibrance Installation 1.Download the ReShade installer from https://reshade.me and run it. (This was tested with Reshade 4.4.2) 2.Select LEGOLCUR_DX11.exe (\%SteamDirectory%\steamapps\common\LEGO City Undercover) and click on the pre-selected graphics API (Direct3D 10/11/12). 3.Confirm the installation of standard shaders when the installer's pop-up message opens, and install the following shaders: AmbientLight,ChromaticAbberation,Clarity,FXAA,FakeHDR,LumaSharpen,Vibrance 4.Create a folder for Reshade files on your desktop 5.Open your LEGO CU directory and move the Reshade files to the desktop folder created (ReShade.ini, dxgi.dll, "reshade-shaders" folder) 6.Download the Special K LEGO City Recovered (https://gitlab.com/Kaldaien/SpecialK/-/tags/lcr_limiter) and extract the contents of LCR2.7z to your LEGO CU directory 7.Run the game and ensure that Special K is working (Press CTRL+SHIFT+BKSPC to open Special K Menu) 8.Move the files from your ReShade folder on the desktop to ReShade folder in Documents\My Mods\SpecialK\PlugIns\ThirdParty. As needed, create the ReShade or any other directories in the required path. 9.While in the Documents\My Mods\SpecialK\PlugIns\ThirdParty directory, rename dxgi.dll to "ReShade.dll" 10.Open LEGO CU, open the Special K menu. Go to Plug-Ins > Third-Party and check the box for ReShade (Official) and then close the game. 11.Download this preset by hitting the button below, and rename the file to "YOUR_PRESET_NAME.ini". The most important part is changing the ".txt" file to ."ini." Ensure that this file is placed in the Documents\My Mods\SpecialK\PlugIns\ThirdParty\ReShade folder. 12.Run LEGO City Undercover; be patient as the game can take longer to load all of the ReShade shaders. 13.Open ReShade menu with "Home" key, and use the drop down menu to select the .ini file you just put in your bin folder. Keep hitting the continue button until the boxes turn from red to grey/clear. 14.If you are happy with the settings, you may also want to click on the Settings tab to configure keybindings to your choosing 15.Navigate to the Home tab and click the Performance Mode checkbox at the bottom-right. This will ensure the best possible performance for low-end systems while running ReShade Notes and Known Issues ~ If you find that shadows are too pixelated, I would highly recommend turning Shadows off until a modded solution comes out for fixing the shadow maps. You really won't notice the change. ~If you have issues configuring for Special K, please feel free to refer to these resources: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/SpecialK_Mods/discussions/15/1369506198755417370/ https://steamcommunity.com/groups/SpecialK_Mods/discussions/17/1644295067073842048/ Performance While I design and test all of my Reshades with performance in-mind, my hardware settings and resolutions may differ from yours. While mood is important, framerate should be the most important if you are a true gamer. Nothing will be "one size fits all", so play around and find the right compromise of performance and quality. My PC Hardware: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/sbLL27 ~ At the time of this Reshade release, I was using a EVGA GTX 1080ti FTW3 ~ CPU is overclocked to 5.0GHz Turbo speed, and CPU cores are unparked.
