Hit Me With Your Best Shot ReShade w/DoF
Preset description:
Uses ReShade 3.0.7 framework to give you knock-your-socks-off graphics for this old, but decent game.
To install, go here: https://reshade.me/
Download latest version.
Run the .exe in admin mode and select Rage.exe in your RAGE main folder.
Choose OpenGL
Say yes when it ask if you want to download a collection of shaders. Have these following shaders selected and deselect any of the effects not listed here:
Clarity,
HDR,
Tonemap,
Deband,
FilmGrain (make sure its the first film grain, not FilmGrain2),
Technicolor2,
AdaptiveSharpen,
DOF (depth of field),
Levels,
Vignette
Now download my preset here with the "download" button below. Rename that file "anythingyouwant.ini", the most important part is that the files name now ends ".ini" instead of ".txt" like it did when you downloaded it. Put that file in your game's main folder where you found Rage.exe and where your reshade-shaders folder should now also be installed.
Run your game and after you get a message in a grey box saying reshade effects have loaded, press Shift+F2 simultaneously to open the in-game ReShade GUI. Select the .ini file from that drop down menu. Toggle the effect with scroll-lock key. You can change these keys in the ReShade's settings menu.
Click continue until the boxes go from red to gray/clear. Done. Your new ReShade should be making your game look fapping sexy by this point.
Toggle controls for DoF and other stuff here:
Advanced Depth-of-Field - "/" on the numberpad (you'll probably want this off when driving)
Film grain - "3" on numberpad
Sharpness - "5" on numberpad
Darkening modifier (levels) - "2" on numberpad
You'll want to toggle DOF off with the toggle key I set up in barter menus btw. It's instant.
If it's too dark for you, I suggest you either lower the gamma through ReShade's tonemap OR turn off "levels" (not recommended)

Lol. "oGeraled" should say overall. Hah.
Thanks. I can't "fix" it, so to sepak. There's no way to stop reshade from blocking the UI with its depth of field when the object in focus is really close. But it is not usually blurred.
You can push,the DoF farther away from the player character, but that also makes the oGerald effect less pronounced. If you want play around with it, adjusting the "NearBlurCurve" under DOF in the reshade will do it. I would suggest value between 8 and 40, but gotta see what works for you.
Again, more often than not, the minimap is, not blurred and even when it is, I don't think it's too bad in this game cause, it's not like it's an online fps, where we depend on the minimap for enemy positions... not even sure why this game has one really.
